The property is set in a small village, close to the town of Matha with supermarkets, bakers and restaurants. Near to the property there is a tennis court, and within a few minutes’ drive there is a leisure lake with restaurant, great for a casual evening meal on a warm summer evening. The historic town of Cognac, just 20 minutes to the south and set beside the river Charente, is famous for its brandy houses. Cognac offers riverside activities such as boating, swimming, canoeing etc, together with boasting many cafes, shops and restaurants in the town itself. The Roman town of Saintes, with its amphitheatre, is 30 minutes away and offers comprehensive shopping facilities. There are golf courses at Cognac and Saintes. Wonderful sandy beaches at Royan can be reached in about an hour.
